Hello! My name’s Bella. I’m a student of Linguistics and French at Edinburgh, currently on her year abroad in France.
When I initially thought of writing this blog, I wanted it to be a handy resource for students or young professionals, or just people starting out, generally. As the oldest child in my family I’ve often felt like I’m doing what’s never been done. I feel like I’m learning to freestyle at the deep end. Sometimes I’ve sunk, sometimes I’ve swum – more than often, it just feels like I’ve done a good job by staying afloat. Life’s not always got plain-sailing conditions.
The idea has kind of evolved into this page being a space for myself to write, and I guess that’s what keeps me bobbing along, too. So along with advice, prepare for tales of fortune, misfortune, restaurant and theatre reviews, poems, existential crises, travel journalling, and just love letters to the sea.
Oh, and also, I have a companion – His name is Timothy. He contributes, and goes everywhere with me. Timothy is a Wade Tortoise (that’s a very rare species originating from the Potteries, where part of my family comes from).
If you’ve got this far, you probably enjoy my whimsical style (for want of a better term) and will no doubt like my posts. Join me on these journeys, and subscribe!
